Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 September 2026
1. About This Policy
adastudio.co.nz is run by Ada Studio, a small glassware studio based in Auckland, New Zealand (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website, shop with us, join our emails or get in touch, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. If you shop with us from Australia or elsewhere, we also aim to meet the privacy laws that apply where you live. Please read this policy alongside our Terms & Conditions.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Orders: your name, email, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, the items you buy, and any notes you add at checkout.
- Customer account: your login email and order history, if you create an account.
- Emails and sign-ups: your email address (and first name, if you share it) when you join our newsletter, sign up through a popup, or enter a giveaway.
- Reviews: your name, rating, comments and any photos you choose to include in a product review.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, social media or other channels, for example about an order, a return or a damaged item.
Information collected automatically
When you browse our website we, and the tools we use, automatically collect information such as your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, the pages you view, what you add to your cart, how you arrived at our site (for example from an ad or email), and how you interact with pages (such as clicks and scrolling). Some of this is collected using cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).
Information from other sources
We may receive information about you from our service providers and partners, for example payment and fraud checks from our payment providers, delivery updates from our couriers, review details from our reviews platform, and messages or interactions when you engage with us on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok. We handle this information in the same way as information you give us directly.
You don’t have to give us your personal information, but if you don’t, we may not be able to process your order or respond to you.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Process, deliver and keep you updated on your orders, including pre-orders
- Handle returns, damaged items, shipping protection claims and refunds
- Answer your questions and provide customer support
- Send you emails about new releases, restocks and offers, if you have opted in
- Run giveaways and contact winners
- Show and moderate product reviews
- Understand how our website is used so we can fix problems and make it better
- Measure and improve our advertising, including showing relevant ads on social media
- Detect and prevent fraud, misuse and security issues
- Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
4. Marketing Emails
We only send marketing emails if you have signed up or opted in, for example at checkout, through our newsletter form or a popup, or by entering a giveaway. Our emails are sent using Omnisend.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by emailing us. We’ll still send you emails that relate to your orders, such as confirmations and shipping updates.
5. Who We Share Your Information With
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as much as they need to do their job:
- Shopify powers our store, customer accounts and checkout.
- Payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Afterpay, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay) process your payment. We never see or store your full card details.
- Courier partners receive your name, address and contact details to deliver your order.
- Omnisend sends our marketing and order-related emails.
- Judge.me sends review requests after purchase and hosts our product reviews.
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity help us understand how visitors use our website. Clarity may record anonymised sessions (clicks, scrolls and page movement) to help us spot problems. It is set up to mask what you type into forms.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) helps us measure and show our ads, through the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API.
- Vercel hosts our website, and Sentry helps us find and fix technical errors.
- Our professional advisers, such as our accountant, where needed.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to respond to a lawful request from a government agency or court, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or restructure of our business.
6. Cookies & Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We also use your browser’s local storage for similar purposes. We use them to:
- Make the site work: keep items in your cart, remember your currency and track bundle discounts. These are needed for the store to function.
- Analytics: understand which pages and products people visit and where the site can be improved (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Shopify).
- Advertising: measure how our ads perform and show you relevant Ada Studio ads on other platforms (Meta).
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site, such as the cart, from working. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on and manage the ads you see in your Meta ad preferences.
7. Advertising Audiences
To show our ads to people who are likely to be interested, and to avoid showing them to people who have already bought, we may share encrypted (hashed) email addresses of our customers and subscribers with Meta to create custom audiences. Meta matches these to its own users and does not use them to identify you to us. If you would prefer not to be included, email us and we’ll remove you.
8. Storing Information Overseas
Most of our service providers, including Shopify, Omnisend, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Vercel and Sentry, store and process information outside New Zealand, for example in Canada, the United States, the European Union or Australia. These countries may not have the same privacy protections as New Zealand. We choose reputable providers that are required by their terms with us to protect your information, and we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in a way that is comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.
9. Keeping Your Information Safe
Our website uses encryption (HTTPS), payments are processed securely by our payment providers, and access to customer information is limited to the people who need it. No online service can be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will let you and the Privacy Commissioner know as required by law.
10. How Long We Keep It
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Order and payment records are kept for at least seven years to meet New Zealand tax requirements. We keep your email subscription details until you unsubscribe, and giveaway entries only as long as needed to run the giveaway and send any related emails you agreed to. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
11. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete your information, unless we need to keep it for legal reasons (such as tax records)
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails or ask to be left out of advertising audiences
To make a request, email us at hello@adastudio.co.nz. We may need to confirm your identity first. We’ll respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days. There is no charge for this.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand or, if you live in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
12. Children
Our website isn’t intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
13. Other Websites
Our website links to other sites, such as Instagram, TikTok and Afterpay. We aren’t responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies when you visit them.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we start using a new service or the law changes. We’ll post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
15. Contact Us
